Kazakhstan is under the spotlight this year as it hosts the International Exposition, also known as “Expo 2017”. The country has chosen “Future Energy” as the overarching theme for this world event. Thus, until September 2017, the Kazakh capital Astana is a global forum where the main question being debated is: “How do we ensure safe and sustainable access to energy for all while reducing CO2 emissions?” Issues being raised include international cooperation, technology transfer and energy investments – all of which are key drivers fuelling the Energy Charter Process.
The International Energy Charter is pleased to participate in Expo 2017 where a number of its member countries have set up their own pavilions. Lined up in the newly built Astana Exhibition Complex, the pavilions are keenly showcasing the latest innovative energy and environmental developments in their home countries.
