During these meetings the parties discussed issues related to the transit of natural gas in all directions, as well as coordination of efforts on legally binding rules of international organisations, including the UN, on energy transit. The parties also agreed on the importance of the International Energy Charter, a political declaration to be adopted in The Hague in May 2015. Special focus during the meetings was given to the upcoming Chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the Energy Charter Conference in 2017.

The Ashgabat Energy Charter Forum on "Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy" is taking place in the capital of Turkmenistan on 9 December 2014. The Forum will be followed by an International Meeting of Experts on reliable and stable transit of energy for sustainable development on 10-11 December 2014.
