The potential of the Energy Charter in the context of energy diplomacy

The Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) - the German Institute for International and Security Affairs - hosted a Workshop on "The potential of the Energy Charter in the context of energy diplomacy" in their offices in Berlin (Ludwigkirchplatz 3-4, 10719 Berlin) on Wednesday 2 March 2016 at which the Secretary General, Dr Rusnák, was the main speaker.

The German Institute for International and Security Affairs, run by the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), is an independent research institute. Its remit is to inform and advise the Bundestag and the German government, as well as the business sector and interested experts, on all relevant questions of foreign and security policy.

As Europe’s largest foreign policy think-tank, SWP is a place of rigorous scientific investigation. We greatly value our independence in setting research priorities. SWP disseminates up-to-the-minute data and supplies specific advice in line with requirements. If good ideas are to be improved and heard, they first need to be questioned and challenged. That is why, in Berlin and at its Brussels representation, SWP also functions as a major forum for exchange and communication: an outwardly calm and inconspicuous venue shielded from the constraints of public party politics. A confidential setting where leaders and scholars can come together to work through scenarios and explore the important questions.
