They discussed the importance of the Energy Charter Treaty as the only existing legal framework for the promotion and protection of investments for renewable energy. Dr. Rusnák and Mr. Amin agreed to strengthen the cooperation between the two organisations on issues related to enhancing the investment climate and improving market confidence and on a regulatory framework for a wider deployment of renewable energy.
The Energy Charter Secretariat is an official observer organisation to the IRENA General Assembly, which gathers annually high-level delegates from the 138 IRENA member states. Secretary General Rusnák will hold a number of bilateral meetings with ministers and heads of delegations participating in this year's Assembly to discuss the benefits of signing the International Energy Charter during the Ministerial Conference in The Hague in May 2015.
