Secretary General Dr. Rusnák holds a series of high-level meetings in Abu Dhabi on the margins of IRENA Assembly's 4th Session

The Secretary General Dr. Urban Rusnák held a series of fruitful meetings with heads of delegations of the countries participating in the 4th Session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly, which took place on 18-19 January 2014 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

With the Minister of Environment and Water Resources of Kazakhstan Mr. Nurlan Kapparov Dr. Rusnák discussed Kazakhstan's Energy Charter Conference Chairmanship this year. Dr. Rusnák and Minister Kapparov also talked about the ongoing process of updating the 1991 Energy Charter and the recent decisions of the Energy Charter Conference. The Secretary General also highlighted the latest developments in the framework of the Charter Process and the main outcomes of his mission to Moscow in early January 2014.

During the meting with the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Dr. Majdy Rady the Secretary General Dr. Rusnák encouraged the Egyptian government to increase its involvement in the Energy Charter Process by signing the 1991 Energy Charter. He also invited Egypt's energy companies participate in the work of the Energy Charter's Industry Advisory Panel.

Turkish Deputy Minister of Energy Dr. Hasan Mercan and Dr. Rusnák discussed the recent Energy Charter Conference decisions, the involvement of Turkey in updating the 1991 Energy Charter and in the Energy Charter Review this year. They also talked about the participation of Turkish government officials and company representatives in the training programmes of the Energy Charter Secretariat Knowledge Centre.
