Secretary General delivers a speech at 2016 Asia Energy Cooperation Forum in Chongqing

On 28 June 2016, the Energy Charter Secretary General Urban Rusnák attended the second day of 2016 Asia Energy Cooperation Forum in Chongqing, China and delivered a speech on the relevance of the Energy Charter and its principles, particularly within the context of China’s "One Belt One Road Initiative". During the Forum, three other Chinese speakers also dedicated their presentations exploring various aspects, contexts, and potential benefits of deeper Chinese involvement within the Energy Charter Process. Additionally, the Forum participants also approved the "Chongqing Understanding" on Asian energy cooperation that also includes inputs and references to the Energy Charter. The Forum is co-organised by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Energy Administration and the China Institute of International Affairs. The Secretary General will also attend the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting and the Global Forum on Energy Security in Beijing  later this week.
