New energy investment opportunities of Tajikistan - the way forward

On the occasion of the visit of the President of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon to Brussels, the Energy Charter Secretariat and the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan held a high-profile investment meeting "New Energy Investment Opportunities of Tajikistan - the Way Forward" on 11 April 2013. Opening the investment meeting, H.E. Emomali Rahmon emphasised the importance of international cooperation and adherence of the Republic of Tajikistan to the rules of international law. In particular, President Rahmon highlighted the long-standing commitment of Tajikistan to the Energy Charter Treaty.

During their bilateral meeting, President Rahmon and the Energy Charter Secretary General Dr. Rusnák discussed the cooperation of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Energy Charter, as well as various forthcoming investment projects in Tajikistan. The Secretary General informed President Rahmon of the ongoing work on the in-depth review of energy efficiency policies of Tajikistan.

During the bilateral meeting, special focus was given to the work of the Task Force on Regional Energy Cooperation in Central and Southern Asia. The latest meeting of the Task Force took place in Dushanbe on 20 July 2012. President Rahmon expressed his support for the work of the Task Force.
