Infrastructure and policy developments discussed at Energy Charter Trade and Transit Group Meeting

On 2 October 2013 the Energy Charter Secretariat hosted the meeting of the Energy Charter Trade and Transit Group. Delegates from 21 member countries and the European Commission attended the meeting to discuss the latest developments in energy infrastructure and policies in the Energy Charter constituency.

Presentations were made on the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline project, the UN General Assembly resolution on reliable and stable transit backed by Turkmenistan, as well the Secretariat's work on a transit tariff study for electricity in Central and South Asia.

The Trade and Transit Group discussed extensively the ongoing work related to the rules of conciliation for transit disputes. Another topic on the agenda was a follow-up discussion on the Workshop on Contractual Issues Related to Energy Trade held earlier this year. The Group decided to hold a separate meeting on 24 October to address the adaptation of trade-related annexes of the Energy Charter Treaty to the 2012 edition of the Harmonised System Nomenclature of the World Customs Organisation (HS 2012).
