Energy Charter Secretariat contributes to the UN ESCAP capacity building activities in Northeast Asia

On 29 March 2022, the Energy Charter Secretariat's Knowledge Centre participated in the Capacity Building Needs Assessment for Effective Power Interconnection Cooperation in Northeast Asia Inception Meeting. The meeting was jointly organised by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) and Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI). The meeting was attended by the members of the GTI Energy Board from China, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation and aimed to define the scope of the needs assessment and identify relevant stakeholders to promote energy cooperation and power interconnections.

The Secretariat was invited to contribute to "Capacity requirements for effective power interconnection cooperation" by sharing the Energy Charter's expertise and experience in promoting regional energy cooperation and integrating power markets.

In 2020 the Secretariat developed and delivered a training module on energy transit for the government officials of Mongolia to support UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific activities to strengthen sub-regional connectivity in East and North-East Asia through effective economic corridor management.
