The findings of the report are based on data collected by way of a questionnaire. The first draft of the report identified both common principles and considerable divergences in the approaches to national regulation of energy transit and relevant institutional set up of contracting parties. China supported the work of the Secretariat by indicating specific interest to the multilateral rules on energy transit. The delegates also proposed to consider involving new signatories of the International Energy Charter in the review process in order to benefit from the enlarged geographic scope of the Energy Charter. As an outcome of the meeting, the delegates agreed to facilitate the responses to the questionnaire which would allow the Secretariat to prepare and circulate the second draft of the report by the end of July for written comments. Building on the initial outcomes, the second draft will present concrete conclusions and best practices.
