Energy Charter Director speaks at Singapore International Energy Week

On 29 October 2015, the Energy Charter Secretariat Director Steivan Defilla presented the International Energy Charter at the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), an annual event organised by the Singapore Energy Market Authority (EMA). 

Upon the kind invitation by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security (IAGS), Mr. Defilla outlined the potential of the Energy Charter to the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative proposed in 2013 by the Chinese President Xi Jinping. He argued that the Energy Charter can contribute as a forum for discussion on cross-border projects. He spoke also of the Energy Charter’s experience in proposing and codifying best practice regulation for the construction and operation of such key infrastructure. Furthermore, the Energy Charter promotes and protects energy investments. Mr Defilla also referred to the significance of the Energy Charter Industry Advisory Panel B2B discussions on Energy Charter issues.
