Electricity Stakeholder Meeting

On 28 March 2012 the Energy Charter Secretariat Directorate of Trade and Transit organised an electricity stakeholder event on transit and cross-border cooperation. This set of consultations was the first of three such meetings planned for 2012. Subsequent stakeholder events will focus on gas and oil. These consultations are held in the context of a possible re-set of negotiations on a new Energy Charter instrument on energy transit.

The March event was designed as an information exchange platform for stakeholders in cross-border electricity projects and transit among Energy Charter Treaty members and observers. Participants from various regions presented ongoing and planned projects and highlighted the specific areas where closer international or regional cooperation was required from their point of view.
