The Deputy Secretary General thanked Dr. Rusnák for his warm welcome and informed of the specific purpose of his visit which is to know the steps of accession and to explore further areas of collaboration that could positively impact the region.

Priority areas for the EAC are energy production (Hydro, Solar, Oil and Gas, Geo-Thermal, etc) and the large scale potentials and opportunities available in the region for investors, and the need to attract credible investment to the region. 

Dr Rusnák confirmed that the International Energy Charter stands ready and available to support and to collaborate in joint programmes and activities of mutual interest and benefits and to take further, the relationship with the EAC. In the future this may include the EIRA 2018 project which may be a good opportunity and starting point for EAC and the International Energy Charter.
