UA Task Force meets with the representatives of the European Commission Support Group for Ukraine

On 13 October 2022, the members of the Task Force established under the project "Cooperation for Restoring the Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure" visited the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission (DG NEAR).

Mr Marcus Lippold, Team Leader Energy, Environment, Climate & Green Deal, DG NEAR, Ms Chloé Allio, Head of Operations Section and  Mr Torsten Wollert,  Minister Counselor, the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, updated the Task Force about the current and planned activities of Support Group for Ukraine, established within the DG NEAR. The European Commission Support Group for Ukraine together with the EU Delegation to Ukraine, have been working relentlessly to rapidly mobilise emergency assistance to the country since the full-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation, launched on 24 February, 2022.  

The members of the Task Force informed the European Commission about the project's goals, current activities and the next steps of the project implementation. Moreover, short-term and long-term restoration of the Ukrainian energy sector were discussed, focusing on principles of "build back better" by implementing new technologies and developing renewable energy sectors, including biomethane and hydrogen.

The Task Force was established at the Energy Charter Secretariat under the "Cooperation for Restoring the Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure" project funded by the European Commission.
