The Secretariat holds the Third Coordination Meeting for Restoring the Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure

On 8 December 2022, the Ukrainian Task Force established under the Energy Charter Secretariat in the framework of the project "Cooperation for Restoring the Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure" held the Third Coordination Meeting. The First Coordination meeting took place on 15 September 2022, and the Second – on 27 October 2022.

Over the last months, the Coordination Meetings became an efficient platform for sharing information on current and planned activities between different stakeholders that assist Ukraine in restoring its energy sector and maintaining its proper operation during the war, as well as preparing the ground for complex post-war recovery.

The Third Coordination Meeting gathered more than 50 participants from foreign governments, international organisations, international technical assistance projects, Ukrainian think tanks and civil society. In addition to regular participants, the meeting was attended by new stakeholders, including the representatives of governments of the Kingdom of Belgium, the Republic of Lithuania, Japan, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the European Commission, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank and the Mission of Ukraine to NATO.

At the beginning of the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Mr Roman Andarak, Director General of the Directorate for Strategic Planning and European Integration expressed sincere gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support and dedicated work. Mr Andarak also shared with participants the latest update on the recent military attacks on Ukrainian critical energy infrastructure facilities by the Russian armed forces and outlined the urgent needs of Ukraine's energy sector.

The overall objective of the project "Cooperation for Restoring the Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure" is to assist the Government of Ukraine in the cost-effective restoration of energy infrastructure, taking into account the clean energy transition while ensuring energy security. The project is funded by the European Commission and implemented by the Energy Charter Secretariat.
