The Kazakh Deputy Ambassador visits the Energy Charter Secretariat

On 7 September 2022, the Secretary-General of the Energy Charter Secretariat, Mr Guy Lentz, and the Deputy Secretary-General, Ms Atsuko Hirose, met with Deputy Ambassador Mr. Askar Abdrakhmanov, and Mr. Almas Dissyukov, Counsellor, of the Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the European Union.

The parties discussed the most pressing issues of international cooperation in the energy sector and the modernisation of the Energy Charter Treaty, and the importance of the necessity for a systematic and gradual transition to a low-carbon, sustainable green economy.

The Secretary-General expressed gratitude for the invitation to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan in mid-October 2022 to meet with high-level government officials and national companies to present the results of the modernisation of the Energy Charter Treaty and discuss the possibility of conducting an extended profile on the Energy Investment Risk Assessment (EIRA) of Kazakhstan.

The Secretary-General and the Deputy Secretary-General congratulated the newly appointed Deputy Ambassador on his assumption and wished him fruitful work.

The meeting was concluded by both parties agreeing to cooperate fully within the framework of the ECT and expressing their commitment and desire for further fruitful cooperation.
