Secretary-General Lentz discusses the role of the Energy Charter Secretariat in Restoring the Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure

On 19 May 2022, Secretary-General Guy Lentz met with Mr Roman Andarak, General Director, Directorate for strategic planning and European integration, and Mr Oleksandr Motsyk, Advisor to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine.

The parties have discussed the role of the Energy Charter Secretariat in restoring the Ukrainian energy infrastructure and the importance of joint and coordinated actions to avoid any potential risks related to the overlapping of the work done by other stakeholders. The representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine also updated the Secretary-General on the latest situation in Ukraine, in particular, the damages and the number of households disconnected from electricity and gas supply as the result of the Russian aggression. The Secretary-General reconfirmed the readiness of the Secretariat to facilitate post-conflict investments towards the restoration of the energy infrastructure in Ukraine, taking into account the clean energy transition and the energy security of Ukraine.

The meeting with the Secretary-General took place as part of the official visit of the delegation from the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine to Brussels.
