Secretary General Dr. Rusnák meets with Chargé d’Affaires of Nigeria in Brussels

On 10 May 2016, the Energy Charter Secretary General Dr Urban Rusnák, met with Chargé d’Affaires of Nigeria, Mr. Umar Suleiman, at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels. Productive bilateral discussions were held on how best to deepen and enhance Nigeria’s relationship with the Energy Charter and on how to accelerate Nigeria’s integration in the Energy Charter Process, particularly given that the country is the largest in Africa and the leader in the West African sub-region.

The Chargé d’Affaires assured the Secretary General of the Embassy’s readiness and continued support for the Energy Charter Secretariat and the Energy Charter Process. The Embassy will continue to facilitate issues wherever possible and to make positive interventions to the Government in Nigeria with respect to all Energy Charter and related energy activities and programmes of interest to the Nigerian Government. He emphasised that Nigeria remains interested in the Energy Charter Process and that the signing of the International Energy Charter is under active consideration in the capital.
