In line with the decisions of the Energy Charter Conference (CCDEC 2024 16 GEN and CCDEC 2025 01 GEN), the Energy Charter Secretariat has officially assumed, on an interim basis, the role of the Depositary of the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) and the Energy Charter Protocol on Energy Efficiency and Related Environmental Aspects (PEEREA), effective as of 2 February 2025.

As the interim Depositary, the Energy Charter Secretariat is responsible for receiving and processing all notifications, declarations, and other instruments related to the ECT and the PEEREA. These should be submitted via diplomatic note, with the original instruments, to:
