Chad and Niger Sign the 1991 Energy Charter and Commit to Acceeding to the Energy Charter Treaty

The Ambassadors of Chad and Niger signed the 1991 Energy Charter in The Hague at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Netherlands on 22 April 2015.

Niger and Chad Ambassadors referred to the importance of a common Charter for energy cooperation in African countries.

The Ambassadors highlighted the need for investments and security in the region. The two countries have close ties in the energy sector.

Both Chad and Niger have chosen experts for secondment to the Energy Charter Secretariat for the preparation of accession reports.
