On 2 July 2025, Acting Secretary-General, Ms. Atsuko Hirose, welcomed to the Energy Charter Secretariat the delegation of the members of the Parliament of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, led by H.E. Mr. Haytham Zayadeen, President of the Energy Committee of the Jordanian House of Representatives.  

Ms. Hirose expressed appreciation for Jordan holding the Chairmanship of the Energy Charter Conference, the governing body under the Energy Charter Treaty, for two consecutive years from 2023 to 2024.  

The parties discussed further cooperation between Jordan and the Secretariat going forward, including the continuous participation of Jordan in the flagship publication of the Secretariat, the Energy Investment Risk Assessment (EIRA), with a view to increasing renewable energy investments in Jordan, and the ratification of the amendments to the Energy Charter Treaty approved by the Conference in December 2024.
