On 3 June 2025, Acting Secretary-General, Ms. Atsuko Hirose, spoke at the opening Ministerial Plenary of the Baku Energy Forum, at the invitation of the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan.   

The Plenary opened with the keynote speech by the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, H.E. Parviz Shahbazov, and was attended by deputy ministers and state secretaries of energy from many of the member states of the Energy Charter Treaty.  

Ms. Hirose spoke on the amendments to modernise the Energy Charter Treaty adopted in December 2024, and how such amendments may assist in increasing investments in renewable energy sector projects to further energy transition, at the same time enhancing energy transition and resilience.
