On 5 June 2024, Acting Secretary-General, Ms. Atsuko Hirose, met H.E. Mr. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, on the margins of the Baku Energy Forum, where the Minister gave a keynote speech. 

The Minister and the Acting Secretary-General discussed the latest developments regarding the Energy Charter Treaty, particularly in view of Hungary taking over the European Union Presidency shortly.  The Minister confirmed continued commitment of Hungary to the Treaty and its staunch support for the modernisation of the Treaty.
