On 30 May 2025, Acting Secretary-General, Ms Atsuko Hirose, met with H.E. Daler Shofakir Juma, Minister of Energy of the Republic Tajikistan, on the sidelines of the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers' Preservation 2025, hosted by the government of Tajikistan and co-organised with UNESCO and the World Metrological Organization, taking place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Ms. Hirose thanked the Minister for Tajikistan undertaking the Chairmanship of the Energy Charter Conference, the highest decision-making body under the Energy Charter Treaty, for 2025.  The parties agreed on further cooperation going forward, including the preparation of the meeting of the Energy Charter Conference later in the year, which will be the first one following the "modernisation" amendments to the Energy Charter Treaty.
