On 5 June 2024, Acting Secretary-General, Ms. Atsuko Hirose, met Mr. Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), on the margins of the Baku Energy Forum. 

The Director General and the Acting Secretary-General discussed a number of potential areas of cooperation between the two organisations, building upon the success of the joint event in September 2023 during the New York Climate Week.
