The International Energy Charter fosters closer collaboration with partners in China

International Energy Charter visited partner organisations in Beijing, China from 20-22 February 2017 to discuss further collaboration for the “Belt and Road” initiative, Industry Advisory Panel (IAP), and other areas of IEC expertise.

Energy Charter Assistant Secretary General Dr Nakata participated in a series of meetings held with National Energy Administration (NEA), Energy Research Institute (ERI), China Electricity Council (CEC), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Petro China Planning and Engineering Institute (CPPEI),  and the Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI). The IEC and Chinese partners have been closely collaborating since the partnership was formalised by signing the Cooperation MoU in 1998. In 2017, IEC will organize the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) meeting together with EPPEI in Beijing and plan to organise other events related to “Belt and Road” initiative. The International Energy Charter has been making an effort to expand its geological scope to Asia and the Pacific as part of International Energy Charter’s modernization.
