Secretary General attends a high level conference on EU Eastern Neighbourhood and Central Asia

The Energy Charter Secretary General Dr. Rusnák attended the high level conference 'EU Energy Cooperation with the Eastern Neighbourhood and Central Asia' on 17 March 2016 in Brussels. This was a celebration of 20 years of the INOGATE programme. The conference was addressed by the Vice President of European Commission, Mr. Maroš Šefčovič, by  Mr. Johannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations, and by Mr. Volodymyr Demchyshyn Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.

Dr. Rusnák had bilateral meetings with various Heads of Delegations of participating Eastern Neighbourhood and Central Asian countries. He discussed priority areas of cooperation within the new EU programme which will follow the INOGATE project. Vice President Šefčovič confirmed that the new programme will provide 21 million € to partner countries until 2020, and that the Energy Charter Secretariat will be one of the three implementing bodies together with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Energy Community Secretariat.
