International Energy Charter receives Director of International Regulatory Affairs of Enagas

The Energy Charter Secretary General Dr Urban Rusnák met Mr Francisco de la Flor, the Director of International Regulatory Affairs of Enagas, Spain, to discuss natural gas issues at national, regional and global levels on 24 January 2017.

Mr Francisco de la Flor holds several international positions, among others, board member of the European Gas Associations at Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG), President of a Group of Experts of Gas in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and Head of the Working Group on Governance and Regulation at the International Gas Union (IGU). From such a comprehensive perspective of the natural gas value chain, Mr De la Flor’s underlined the importance of having stable investment frameworks such as the 1994 Energy Charter Treaty and the 2015 International Energy Charter at a time when the natural gas industry is undergoing an open-ended sustainable energy transition. Furthermore, the Energy Charter Secretariat is holding talks with the International Energy Forum (IEF) on how to jointly approach some key aspects of the natural gas market. Institutional coordination is aimed at strengthening the global energy architecture.
