The Bureau of the HLPD receives technical assistance from the Research and Innovation Network for Europe and Africa (RINEA), a project funded for three years under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. To facilitate the development of the new partnership, RINEA coordinated an international, expert workshop on 22 and 23 February in order to test identified and prioritized joint research and innovation needs in consultation with other experts. Representing the International Energy Charter, Ms Sarah Keay-Bright was invited to moderate the panel discussing energy efficiency research and innovation needs. She was also joined by Mr Mzwandile Thwala, a secondee to the Energy Charter Secretariat from the Ministry of Natural Resources & Energy of the Government of Swaziland.
