Energy Charter Secretariat participates at G20 Energy Sustainability Working Group in Xiamen, China

The Energy Charter Secretariat participated in the first meeting of G20 Energy Sustainability Working Group, which took place on 28 January 2016 in Xiamen, China.

Delegates in the meeting discussed the planned work in priority areas selected by the Chinese Presidency, namely energy access, clean energy, energy efficiency and global energy governance. On energy access, the group would contribute to the development of an Energy Access Action Plan for Asia-Pacific countries. The importance of promotion and development of sustainable investment climate and removal of all barriers to private investments was highlighted in order to achieve the objectives of ensuring energy access for all. The group will meet again in April to discuss and finalise all documents and Ministerial Communiques for the G20 Energy Ministerial meeting and the Energy Access Conference to be held later in June 2016.
