Energy Charter participation in the G20 Energy Sustainability Working Group

The Energy Charter Secretariat participated in the first meeting of Energy Sustainability Working Group of the G20 on 23-25 February 2015 in Ankara, Turkey.

Turkey had highlighted in 2014 that energy-related issues would be at the top of the Group's agenda during its presidency term this year. The Energy Charter was invited as one of the contributors to provide its added value on three work streams: "Access to Energy For All" for Sub-Saharan Africa, Renewable Energy Perspectives, and Implementation of the G20 Energy Efficiency Action Plan. Energy Charter Deputy Secretary General Mr. Selim Kuneralp delivered a speech at the Working Group meeting. He presented the new International Energy Charter, which is to be adopted in May this year in The Hague, and the growing interest in Africa for developing relations with the Energy Charter.
